-
Participants: 8 (rucknium2, vtnerd3, jberman4, ack-j5, tevador6, sgp_7, boog9008, sech19)
-
(1) Updates
-
vtnerd was going through the SSL review by an LLM and working on serialization/lws stuff10
-
rucknium finished the monerosim spy node analysis and was interested in restarting research on selfish mining defenses11
-
tevador was working on mx25519, polyseed and relative locks12
-
ack-j was improving monero-review by implementing feedback from reviewers13
-
jberman finished reviewing the FCMP++/Carrot hot-cold wallet PR, touched up the tx relay v2 PR and was working on some upstream PR review; he also reported that all phase 2 FCMP++ integration upstream PR’s were ready for review14
-
sech1 was working on P2Pool v5, which was progressing at a good pace: I’ll start testing it on the stressnet next week - not a feature complete version, but a version with minimal required FCMP++/Carrot code15
-
-
(2) Open discussions
-
(2.1) on the FCMP++ to-do list status:
-
rucknium shared relevant links for the associated programming tasks, reviews and audits, integration audit overview and network upgrade schedule16
-
jberman thanked jeffro256 for working on the hot/cold wallet PR17 - the next major milestone - which is nearly complete; then reported that all quotes for the research tasks were received: we’re evaluating the quotes to audit the circuit + gadgets impl + fcmp-plus-plus lib
-
sgp_ noted that a total of 7 quotes were received: the goal is to make a decision during the next meeting; then promised to share more info on Monday in the MRL channel
-
-
-
(2.2) on the ‘monerosim’ spy node analysis18:
-
rucknium reported that the first ever test of Monero’s D++ spy node resistance that uses a network of real running nodes passed, after reminding everyone of the purposes of monerosim: to test the resistance of Monero’s implementation of Dandelion++ against a spy node adversary and to test and establish a statistical methodology to use the monerosim network simulator to measure network behavior
-
tevador acknowledged that the test is interesting but questioned its practicality: spy nodes don’t behave the same way as honest nodes
-
rucknium agreed that the simulation isn’t realistic: I wanted to, at least at first, reproduce the D++ theoretical results.
-
sgp_ asked about the status of the monerosim project; rucknium confirmed that they were planning to focus on selfish mining next
-
-
-
(2.3) on ‘Relative locks’ with FCMP++19:
-
tevador shared that they got stuck on a hack in the FCMP++ test code while trying to add some tests to the relative locks PRs
-
tevador invited discussing this topic further in the #no-wallet-left-behind channel20, after confirming to rucknium that relative locks have no impact on the tree building process
-
-
(2.4) on the FCMP beta stressnet21:
- jberman shared that all side PR’s are prepared for the beta v3 stressnet: next is just hot/cold wallet PR then rebasing on latest master
-
-
(3) Any other business
- sgp_ disclosed that MAGIC Grants22 approved and paid for a full review of the BP+ security proofs after a contracted researcher identified - a few months ago - a potential soundness (inflation) issue; further analysis no known issues were discovered: report will be posted publicly in full in the coming days
