Samourai BTC-XMR atomic swaps program enters public beta

Samourai Wallet’s1 BTC-XMR atomic swaps program went live a few hours ago with the release of version 0.0.13-beta2:

This desktop application makes it very easy to trustlessly swap BTC<->XMR, completely over Tor. In public beta, expect some bugs, and a “dev UI”. The actual UI is still in development :) (pokkst)3

The application is essentially a GUI for COMIT’s XMR-BTC atomic swaps protocol4 with modifications to further enhance anonymity, with the Automated Swap Backend (ASB) built-in, as well as Samourai Wallet Whirlpool for automatic mixing of redeemed BTC.

Consult the comit-swaps-java docs5 to learn more about the project.

Downloads and signed hashes are available on the release page2. Feedback and bug reports can be directed to @samouraiswaps on Telegram6.

Note that while swaps are functional, there are still some bugs that need to be ironed out. Swaps CAN fail, for multiple reasons. It is important you ensure your swap remains running, otherwise you risk being punished7.

This is an ongoing story and the report will be updated when new information is available.

Update: project future uncertain as founders and CEO of Samourai Wallet arrested and charged, website, code repositories seized8.
