Monero Research Lab meeting scheduled for 9 February 2021 1700 UTC

The next Monero Research Lab¹ meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, February 9th 2022 at 17:00 UTC.

The meeting should take place on IRC-Libera/Matrix² in the #monero-research-lab channels.

The meta issue containing the meeting’s agenda and chairperson were not yet announced.

Agenda

• Fee policy and dynamic block size discussion for upcoming hard fork (meta#630³, #7819⁴, MRL#70⁵)
• Revisit @tevador’s idea to record account indices in the tx, to improve robustness of output recovery (logs⁶)
• Focus on Seraphis address schemes and hopefully reach some kind of decision (or get closer, maybe narrow down the choices to 2 or 3) (MRL#92⁷, tevador’s JAMTIS⁸)
• Adaptive CPU regulation for improved mining performance (maxwellsdemon)
• Further analysis of July-Aug 2021 tx volume anomaly (logs⁹)
• Improvements to the mixin selection algorithm (MRL#86¹⁰, JBerman’s update¹¹, MRL#88¹², Rucknium’s OSPEAD¹³)
• Seraphis¹⁴/Triptych¹⁵/Lelantus Spark¹⁶ [..]

• Rucknium posted a draft of the MAGIC Monero Fund research request for proposals²¹ (ETA for final draft: early next week)
• xmr-ack has been working on the dataset collection part of their research project (ETA for full dataset: end of the month)
• jberman has reviewed the fee change PR (plans to re-review various monero-lws related stuff)
• UkoeHB has unit tests running on the main part of JAMTIS (next steps: implementation), some grootle proof optimizations that the Firo team found, might open a new CCS for the larger wallet PoC
• other discussions: how the Seraphis address format change will affect future improvements, potential compatibility with Zcash’s Halo2, how many ring members is “enough”²²;
